Top 10 Safety Tips for Smart Kids

Here at the Campfire Blog, we care about our readers and we especially care about the safety of children. Although we mostly tend to talk about the fun outdoors activities for kids, we felt it was necessary to take a quick step back and ensure that all of our readers are prepared to be a little safer.

Thanks to the fine folks over at both ChevronCars.com and SafetyKidsClub.com for helping formulate this list.

Top 10 Safety Tips for Smart Kids

#1 Smart Kids can always talk to their parents or another trusted adult about anything. Don’t be embarrassed, because adults are here to help.

#2 Smart Kids always “Check First”. This goes for a lot of things, including, always looking both ways before crossing the street.

#3 Smart Kids know how to dial 9-1-1 in an emergency.

#4 Smart Kids never talk to anyone they don’t know well. Don’t talk to strangers under any circumstance.

#5 Smart Kids always use the “Buddy System”. If you’re heading outdoors, always bring a friend or a partner with you.

#6 Smart Kids say “No!” to anyone who tries to touch them in a way that makes them uncomfortable. Then they tell their parents or another trusted grown-up right away.

#7 Smart Kids never open the door for anyone but a trusted friend or relative. Always get your parent or guardian to answer the door.

#8 Smart Kids always tell their parents or another trusted adult if anyone asks them to keep a bad secret. Don’t forget about #1 on the list.
